Te Po

Indigenous evening experience includes cultural storytelling, entertainment and Maori kai (indigenous food). Start the evening at the twelve carvings. Hear stories of the past and learn how the traditions live on. You will be challenged and welcomed on to the marae then will enjoy the songs, see the world-famous haka and shown the poi dance. Participate in these activities and learn some of the Maori customs.

The hangi (earth oven-cooked) meal is a treat and also includes a range of traditional and indigenous-inspired foods.

After your meal, you are transported down into the valley to see the lovely Pohutu geyser and silica terraces lit up. Enjoy hot chocolate while sitting on thermally heated rocks and listening to beautiful voices farewelling you with song.

Mitai

Iindigenous cultural experience is located in a beautiful bush setting. See the Maori warriors paddle upstream in their war waka (canoe). Then view the hangi meal being cooked in the earth before you participate in the cultural performance. Learn about the Maori past including tattooing, weaponry, combat techniques, musical instruments, dancing, games and spine tingling haka.

Enjoy a traditional hangi meal with the famous steamed pudding for dessert.

View the glow-worms lining the path to the Fairy Spring where you will see trout and eels in the crystal-clear waters.

Walk with your guide to the softly lit Rainbow Springs and see more trout, ancient tuatara (lizards), and New Zealand native kiwi birds.

Tamaki Maori Village

Journey back in time to a pre-European lifestyle experience of customs and traditions while walking the paths of the village, alive with the sound and activities of songs, dances, myths, legends and spiritual stories.
